JAIPUR HISTORY FESTIVAL TO BE ORGANISED THIS YEAR ON THE THEME OF 'EDUCATION THROUGH MONUMENTS'

Jaipur, 2 December . The education wing of Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum Trust is going to organise the annual Jaipur History Festival (JHF) at City Palace, Jaipur from 5 to 8 December. The four-day festival will begin every morning with prayers from 8:30 a.m., followed by cultural programs from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and exhibitions and craft workshops from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. After the grand success of the theme of the year 2022, 'Phad Se Padh', this year the festival will be based on 'Education through Monuments'.

JHF 2023 will see a host of activities, with Ganga Aarti, Monument Fashion Show, Rocket Launch and Monument Presentation by 50 schools being the special attractions. Apart from this, Phad Se Padh: Coffee Table Book, Shree Anna Millets Book, Chai Pe Croissant Graphic Novel, 75 Years of Independence Booklet, Road Safety Graphic Novels (11), ISRO Graphic Novels and Organ Donation Graphic Novel will be released.

Chairman, M.S.M.S. II Museum, HH Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh said that like the previous successful events of Jaipur History Festival, this year too, JHF will be organised with a new theme 'Education through Monuments'. Children from various schools from across the country are going to participate in this festival. The festival will provide a platform for children to learn about the culture, history of our country through monuments and the stories behind them, he said.

Nearly a hundred schools from across the country are registered in JHF 2023, including 25 schools from Jaipur and 40 schools from Delhi, Gurgaon, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Jammu, Raipur and Uttar Pradesh, who will present their research on 194 monuments. To prepare students and teachers for the festival, the Trust organised practical training sessions by experts from various fields. More than 10,000 schools are expected to participate in this four-day festival.

The festival is aligned with modern pedagogical methods and will provide children with a more meaningful and interesting approach to learning, contributing to the all-round development outlined by the National Education Policy 2020. JHF 2023- 'Education through Monuments' will encourage schools to move beyond historical narratives by incorporating subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Geography, Biology, Economics and Sociology. It aims to provide children with a holistic understanding of the monuments while bringing the curriculum to life. It is noteworthy that efforts are being made by NCERT and CBSE to promote this festival, so that it can be made a continuous event.
