Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Development and Innovative Strategic Council (K-DISC), an initiative by the Kerala Government, has won the prestigious Skoch Award for its Kerala Knowledge Economy Mission (KKEM) project. Presented in the e-governance category, the award recognises outstanding contributions towards enhancing India's progress.
The primary objective of the KKEM project is to empower educated job seekers with industry-relevant skills and enable them to secure employment opportunities. Through the specially designed Digital Workforce Management System, the project aims to provide jobs to 20 lakh educated unemployed individuals in five years., Dr. P. V. Unnikrishnan, Member Secretary, K-DISC, said, "We identify educated unemployed individuals in collaboration with Kudumbashree and the local self-government bodies and provide them skill training tailored to their desired field. Then, we connect the skilled workers with employers, bridging the gap in the industry's skilled labour force."
The Digital Workforce Management System, developed by the Kerala Knowledge Economy Mission (KKEM), also offers candidates specialized training in communication skills to enhance their interview performance. This approach aligns with K-DISC's vision to transform Kerala into a knowledge society. The national recognition received by the project through the Skoch Award further validates its impact and effectiveness. The award will be presented to K-DISC at a function in Delhi on May 27.
