Jaipur, 14 November: On the occasion of Children's Day, CII-Young Indians (Jaipur Chapter) attempted to break the existing Guinness World Record (GWR) for the largest number of students attending a child safeguarding lesson (Good Touch Bad Touch) at a single venue at Neerja Modi School in Jaipur. A whopping 7278 children between the age group of 6-16 years participated in the initiative organized under Project Masoom of Young Indians.
Trainers Apurva Kaushik and Nisha Jain Grover made the students aware on topics such as negative and positive emotions, what are one’s private parts, what should a child do when someone tries to touch their private parts, child helpline number, POCSO Act, etc.
The Chief Guest on the occasion was Secretary, Social Justice & Empowerment Department, Government of Rajasthan, Dr Samit Sharma. In his address to the students, he said that children should remember three things if someone tries to touch them inappropriately -- ‘No’, ‘Go’ and ‘Tell’. He said that children should scream and shout and run away from the abuser as well as seek help and tell parents and teachers about this.
Chairman, CII Rajasthan & Managing Director, Man Structurals Pvt Ltd, Mr Gaurav Rungta said that in this digital age, it has become even more challenging to safeguard children. YI which is an integral part of the CII is actively working on the ecosystem for the prevention of Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) in the country through awareness sessions, training programmes and advocacy initiatives.
Students from various schools including Neerja Modi School, Shree Maheshwari Sr. Sec. School, Prem Niketan School, MPS Jawahar Nagar, JVP International School, Government Upper Primary School Jhotwara, Jagriti Balika Sadan School C Scheme, Government Girls Sr. Sec. School, etc. participated in the session to make the World Record.The current Guinness World Record is of 4,002 children by Hindustan International School, Chennai. Yi Jaipur attemped to break the same record. The sessions evidence will be submitted to Guinness World Record team for the official declaration of the new record holder.
