Manipal College of Health Professions and Indian Academy of Respiratory Care under the aegis of Indian Association of Respiratory Care (IARC) conducted the E-course, ‘Fundamentals of Respiratory Care in COVID-19’ for Healthcare Professionals between 19th and 20th June 2021.

Manipal: COVID-19 pandemic has caused a huge burden on the humanity and on the healthcare facilities worldwide. Offering effective healthcare services during a pandemic surge poses a serious challenge to the hospital management. Although the majority of patients are asymptomatic, there remains a proportion of critically ill patients who always require intensive respiratory care management. 

 

Foreseeing the need of a multidisciplinary approach in respiratory care, Manipal College of Health Professions (MCHP) joined hands with Indian Academy of Respiratory Care, the Academic wing of Indian Association of Respiratory Care (IARC), to offer an E-Course, ‘Fundamentals of Respiratory Care in COVID-19’ for the multidisciplinary group of Healthcare Professionals. More than 1000 delegates from across the globe with diverse clinical background attended this two-day E-course.

 Dr.G. Arun Maiya, the Dean of MCHP, was the Chief Patron of the Event and delivered the keynote and Dr. Kavita Narayan, Technical advisor to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) was the Chief Guest. During her inaugural speech she emphasised the integral role and the need of Respiratory Therapists not only in the Acute Care settings, but also in various areas of healthcare industry; and it took COVID-19 crisis to bring them to frontline. Ms. Pratibha Todur, Head of the Department of Respiratory Therapy welcomed the delegates, Mr. Binoy Kuriakose, In Charge of RT program, MCHP moderated the session and Mr. Varun Nayak, Assistant Professor of RT Program delivered the vote of thanks.

The 2 days’ E-course, ‘Fundamentals of Respiratory Care in COVID-19’ was held on 19th and 20th of June 2021 delivered fruitful deliberations to enhance the care plan and management of COVID-19 patient.
